MORE THAN JUST A TOURIST DESTINATION:THE OCCULT HISTORY OF JAMAICA

Jamaica became an independent country 48 years ago on August 6, 1962.  There is an occult history to complement the main stream version of the historical record.  This is a brief exposition into the hidden dimensions which will be covered in greater detail at a later date.

The numbers 2, 5 and 11 appear throughout the history of Jamaica. Though often appearing and its vibration felt, the nature of this spiritual imprint is rarely, if ever discussed.

The beginning of the occult history of this Caribbean nation begins with its name Jamaica.  Through the lens of numerology Jamaica is:

J=1

A=1

M=4

A=1

I=9

C=3

A=1

20=2+0=2.

We are told in the “history” books that name “Jamaica” is derived from a word in the lexicon of the Arawak people, the original inhabitants of the country. The Arawaks name for the island was Xaymaca, meaning the “Land of Wood and Water”, or the “Land of Springs”.  Under name numerology, we see that the name Jamaica has a value of “2”.

The traits of ascribed to the number 2 are:

  • The number 2 Destiny suggests that the direction of growth in will be toward gaining an understanding of people and a greater spiritual sense of the world.
  •  A name producing a 2 Destiny gives the tools to work very well with other people. Your destiny will be, in part, in the role of the mediator and the peacemaker. As growth proceeds in this direction, skills include being sensitive to the feelings of others and diplomatic in handling complicated situations.
  • The spiritual potential for the 2 Destiny, and perhaps particularly so for the master number 11/2, is very high.
  • Have the capacity to be inspirational, and the ability to lead merely by  own example.
  • An inborn inner strength and awareness can make you an excellent teacher, social worker, philosopher, or advisor.
  • No matter what area of work  pursued, very aware and sensitive to the highest sense of your environment.
  • Intuition is very strong; in fact, many psychic people and those involved in occult studies have the number 11/2 Destiny.
  • Indeed, the 2 has a spiritual connection not found in other numbers.
  • In many ways  dependent on others and seem to function best in a partnership or in some form of group activity.
  • With maturity, modesty will run deeper in the individual’s nature, and  must work comfortably without recognition of your accomplishments.
  • Often, others will get credit for your ideas, and this must be of little real concern to you as you skill as a team play progresses.
  • Cooperative, courteous, and considerate, you have the capacity to become an outstanding facilitator.
  •  The capacity to organize and handle people, just as you will handle detail, rarely overlook anything.
  • As movement to fulfill your destiny takes place, tactful and friendly behavior will increase your popularity, and nearly everyone will like you.
  • Perhaps this is also because you are more content working with your ideals, rather than dollars and cents.
  •  The positive aspect of the number 2 Destiny is an always idealistic attitude. This is even more accentuated in the master number 11/2.
  • The negative 2 personality can be oversensitive and easily hurt. Too much of this number in one’s makeup can make you very shy and uncertain.
  • Sometimes the excessive 2 energies makes one apathetic and somewhat indifferent to the job at hand; the ability to handle details is hampered in these cases.
  • Some 2s, and especially the 11/2s, struggle with a continuous sense of nervous tension; one may be too sensitive and temperamental.
  •  Tend to dream a lot and may be more of a dreamer than a doer. Fantasy and reality sometimes become intermingled and you are sometimes very impractical.
  • Tend to want to spread the illumination of your knowledge to others irrespective of their desire or need.

 An informed observer would recognize many of the traits referenced above to be quite fitting of the Jamaica such  as: “gaining a greater spiritual sense of the world”, “have the capacity to be inspirational, and the ability to lead merely by your own example”. “An inborn inner strength and awareness can make you an excellent teacher, social worker, philosopher, or advisor”.”dependent on others”, “being overly sensitive” and “struggle with a continuous sense of nervous tension” .

We see evidence of the aforementioned traits of the number “2” in the everyday life of the country. When one remembers that:

  • Boukman, an African from Jamaica that midwifed the Haitian Revolution.
  •  Jamaica had one of -if not the highest number of revolts by enslaved Africans in the Caribbean.
  • The global impact of the Rastafarian religion and Reggae music.
  •  Jamaica’s over reliance on the tourism industry.
  • The high levels of violence that plagues parts of the country.

The Number 5 & Jamaican History

The accepted date of independence August 6, 1962 gives us the number five: 8+6+1+9+6+2=32=3+2=5.

There were originally 32 seats in the first House of Representatives where “universal suffrage” was granted in 1944. 32=3+2=5.

The number 5 also appears in the number of parishes that make up Jamaica. Jamaica is structured in 14 parishes. 14=1+4=5.

Norman Washington Manley founder of the People’s National Party was born on July 4,1893=7+4+1+8+9+3=32=3+2=5.

“The number five symbolizes meditation; religion; versatility. It represents the five senses (taste, touch, smell, sight, hearing) everywhere except in the East. In the East there are six–the extra being Mind. We find meanings to five in the five petaled flower, five-pointed leaves–especially the ROSE. The Rose has much symbolism, but also the lily, vine, all of which represent the microcosm. The five-pointed star depicts individuality and spiritual aspiration, and education when it points upward.”

The number “5” is associated with “travel ” “excellent communicator”, “adventure” and “happy go lucky” attitude. The high levels of immigration to other countries, as well as once again referencing tourism, Jamaicans success in th entertainment field and the catch phrase “Irie”, portray the various  dimensions of the number 5.

“The number 5 raises the energy of the number 4 on a new level. Although in the number 4 we had incarnation of the spirit in the matter for the first time, it is the number 5 which brings this structure to life. The structure of the number 4 is too rigid and too solid. A visual representation of this number can be given with a statue. The statue can be really very beautiful and can look alive, but nevertheless is dead and fixed in its permanent form. When the energy of the statue is raised to the number 5 it comes to life, which looks almost like a miracle. And this is true, because life  is a miracle”
